Join us for a different kind of Sunday brunch! Come and taste some interesting Greek wines paired with Greek cheeses, cured meats and other side dishes (just to make sure you're not leaving hungry).
Wines and spirits you'll try:
Tsipouro from Thessalia - strong pomace brandy (shot)
Assyrtiko from Santorini - white wine (100ml)
Xinomavro from Naoussa - red wine (100ml)
Mavrodafni from Patra - sweet red wine (80ml)
These will be paired with various Greek cheeses like graviera, kefalotyri, goat's feta cheese and cured meat like apaki and sausage from Crete cooked with peppers and tomato sauce. You'll also have some additional small plates to nibble on like kagianas (feta and tomato eggs), olives, rusks etc.
For dessert we'll be serving Greek yogurt with preserved sour cherries, strong Greek (or Turkish) coffee and loukoumi flavoured with mastika. If you don't like coffee we can also offer Greek mountain tea with honey.
This is a very casual kind of wine tasting event and I am in no way an expert. But I do know some things about Greek wine that I will happily share and if I don't know the answer to a question I hope you will forgive me googling it :)
It is surprisingly hard to find all these ingredients in Bristol and many of them have travelled in my suitcase during my return from working the summer season in Greece so I hope you will see this as an opportunity to try something new that you can't easily find. I'm very excited and looking forward to seeing you!
Date: Sunday the 21st of October
Place: Horfield Bristol
